Mark's stuff
Here are some photos of my equipment (meaning... my musical instruments)-- for those who are interested.   Subject to change by the hour, so check back regularly.  Sorry, no naked women or anything...(know any?).

MY ARSENAL
My main trumpet is a humble little Allora 101 (photo at right).   It's a Bach clone and stencil horn that used be be sold by mail order giant Woodwind & Brasswind.   By any other name a B&S 3137 Challenger as is my Allora flugelhorn that is "really" a B&S 3145 (like a Bach 183 flugel-- confused yet?).  More on my instruments as you scroll down.   Other horns in my quiver include a Kanstul Chicago 1001 and wonderful 1966 Bach Vindabona (currently being restored by brass guru Charie Melk) and 1946 era Reynolds.   More on my instruments as you scroll down.  For mouthpieces I use a GR 64S-B on trumpet, GR 64FD on flugel and GR 64/2 on cornet.   I use the new Yamaha Synthetic (light) Valve Oil, drive a Scion xD and am a bourbon aficionado if you really must know.   Do you really want me to go on?   (I think not)

One of my great infuences!

Reynolds

The old Reynolds line of trumpets were very well made and fine players, not all that well known today-- somewhat under the radar.   The company is long gone.  Reynolds had a military contract with the US military during the WWII years, hence the US marking on the bell as well as fancy bell engraving.  Has a 458 bore. The excellent Contempora Corner (on Links Page) has more info. on these old classic trumpets if you're interested.

My wife thinks this is a stupid photo, but I find it sort of cool.   Is that wrong?

Like I stated earlier this is a stencil horn that used to be sold by Brasswind under the name Allora.   In actuality it's a B&S 3145.   This is a fine flugelhorn based on the largely unheralded Bach 183 flugel but this B&S model has a slightly larger bore and in my opinion a superior instrument (I like Bachs though, don't get me wrong).

GR mouthpieces are the best!   Small, aren't they?

Kanstul "Chicago" 1001

A copy of the classic Benge line (Zig Kanstul worked for Benge at one time).   The 1001 has the MLP 464  bore.   One of the finest instruments going!
